In the last few days I've been trying to get round to building my PC. I've done a bit of research on the web and I've been down to Priceless Computing and got their component price list. All the information is starting to worry me. The need to choose a motherboard, CPU & cooler, memory, video card, hard drive, CDR(/RW), soundcard and hopefully have them all working together makes me think of running to a retailer and buying an off the shelf system. I do have a monitor from an old 486 PC but I don't know if I'll be able to use it because it takes it's power from the PC supply - do they do that anymore? The way it's going the only thing I'll be able to use from the old machine is the floppy drive!

I've always found ArsTechnica after Duncan Smeed recommended it in first year.
