I'm riding down Tammany in the rain and wondering what happened. Yesterday at 10:00 I found myself alone at the boat launch and while I could see blue sky in the west, there was no way I could know that temperatures would reach an official 51 degrees under sunny skies. The roads were still wet and I was alone. I opted to ride around Red Wolf and home instead of the planned Lapwai Loop.

AND now I'm riding in the rain? What's up with that? Well the good news is I'm not alone. Chris managed to pull himself out of his "very nice" bed to join us. And that's Mike Riddle in his balaclava wondering why I won't do a night ride. And even Debbie-I-turn-blue-in-the-cold Whitely got off her spinning cycle to join us. And one more--why that's Chandler claiming the skies are blue in Pullman today. So, I've got company and I like that. Too many of my recent riding logs say "alone."

The rain started just as we topped Lindsay Creek. It was light and we weren't worried given 12.5 miles of down hill to the boat launch. Still, I'm convinced that any planned extension to the ride will be abandoned. But at the boat launch everything is dry. Chris says his feet didn't even get too cold. I suggest another 15 and he is up to it. He had only 9 miles on the week so Evans Road sounded good to him.

I feel a drop or too of rain as we left and by the time we start up Evans, we are definitely being rained upon. It makes no difference, however. The bikes will need to be cleaned any way at this point.

Critchfield is awash and the speed of the bikes make the rain seem heavier. We are much wetter than a 30% chance of rain should have been able to deliver. And by this time it is too late to take Nicki up on her offer of soup. We'll take rain-check on that soup, Nicki.

See you at the Christmas dinner, Nicki. Don't know about Chris. I gave it my best shot. He didn't seem to feel obligated when I told him his attendance would mean I could wear jeans.
