At 6:05 no one was at the boat docks, so I cycled down to get Riddle. I was there by 6:10, which is generally well before he's ended his day's work. However, on the night's he doesn't ride it appears he's really off and gone by 6:00. No Riddle vehicle there, and the place was locked up and dark.

As I started back, Lance comes speeding into Kiwanis Park eager for a workout. As we're headed toward the Southway Bridge discussing possible routes, Tim from TNT catches us on his commute home and decides to join us for a few miles. I've wanted to do a Night Ride in Clarkston to Dustin Loop, Libby, & out Elm to Hwy 12, and catch Evans Road since Corrie took me on that route on a day ride this winter. At Elm Tim turned around. His training plan doesn't have him up to 20 miles of hills yet, but we enjoyed his company and look forward to his company on future rides. The wind was mild but at our backs out to Evans, and only 3 cars passed us while we were on Hwy 12's wide shoulder. As we turned on Evans we seemed to lose the wind. We meandered up some dirt road, on up to Peola Rd, and then decided to climb 27th- arguably the toughest climb in the valley, but it dead ends, so we rarely climb it. Getting up to its top on that bare knob which looks down on the entire valley including the airport, we knew the wind had died. The only wind we knew tonight was a tailwind! We found some different back streets to return on giving us close to our typical Night Ride mileage of 20.5 in 2:03. At 8:30 when the ride was over, the temp was 47 and there was still no wind!

Tim plans to join us again, but Night Riding season is drawing to an end with the increasing daylight. Plan on the annual Spring Night Ride out Lapwai Rd to Lapwai and return via Sweetwater next Wednesday with about 37 miles in 3:15 riding time. Departure time TBA as we'll attempt to make it earlier if everyone can do that.
