What a beautiful day! 'Course by ride time I thought I should have brought my headlights. A breeze and lowering sky didn't discourage Cliff, Debbie, Lance, Sherry and Corrie.
The wind left us only the option of riding toward Asotin. Cliff stretched his muscles and left us behind. We found him waiting at Asotin wondering about remaining light. We decided the-end-of-the-pavement was probably not going to happen. With a headwind and a hill, we didn't increase our chances of making the full route. We turned around at the Y and headed home with our tailights twinkling.
On the Greenbelt Trail we encountered, yes, the first sprinklers of the season. Why do they have to water at dusk? Lance and Sherry risked puncture weed riding across the grass at the Corp Parking lot to avoid the sprinklers. The rest of us carried our bikes.
Aside from the wind ripping Debby's sunglasses from her face, the ride was uneventful.
Back at Baskin Robins, we enjoyed the snacks we had earned. Time trials on Thursday, and ice cream rides every Tuesday: the summer riding season is here. Looks more and more like a road ride Saturday as Linda wants to come too.
For the ride of it.
