Thanks to Debbie, we had a schedule ride this weekend. Mike and Nicky, Lance and Jan, Corrie and Linda made up the regulars.
We were surprised and pleased to be joined by Joy, an interesting woman, a doctor working as a temp at Lapwai exploring her world. She'd just read Moby Dick and was hungry for adventure.
She borrowed a bike and showed up for this ride after encountering Tuesday's night ride. Her bike is in Cleveland so she had no helmet. Lance rode his bike home, picked up a helmet for her and joined us at the top of Evan's road.
Jan had left from home about a half hour earlier and we never caught her. I rode out ahead to the saddle country and found her returning.
Once you break over to the saddle country, the views become dramatic.
Then, heading back we stopped for a group picture. "Where's Jan?" Sure enough, she'd dropped us again.
We finally did catch her and made her ride behind us all the way back to the boat launch.
Jan used a head start to get ahead of us. We finally caught up with her.
Occasionally I can't escape being in the picture.
The day was beautiful. Warmer on top than in the valley. We sat on the deck at Roosters and had drinks. Lance put up the umbrella to shade us from the bright late afternoon sun.
We hope the same holds for next Saturday's Ride for Ryleigh at 10 at World Gymn. Wear your clbu jersey.
And don't forget the Soup ride at the Riddle's on Sunday. Come and meet Joy. She promises to bake bread.
