I left home about 11:30 thinking I might make it up Tammany to MacIntosh and back to the Riddles before 1. At Barre road, I reassessed that plan. I might have made it, but I didn't want to push and I wanted to have time to visit a bit before we took off. I climbed 21st street and stopped at the Ellis. We rode on to the Riddles together.

I needn't have worried about the time, though. Nicky advised us the route had been changed. Riding Lapwai, even without the Arrow extension, she felt wouldn't give us enough time. She wanted to be back early enough to get the soup on, too. We also couldn't leave quite on time as Lance was coming but finds it hard to make a 1 pm start.

Apologies to Chris who Steve reports did do the Lapwai Loop probably swearing at us all the way. I can see him working hard trying to catch us. Wonder when he figured out we hadn't gone that way? An apologies to Steve who was in town this weekend but hadn't indicated he'd be here for sure so I planned to do the club rides. Steve did computer work Saturday and Lapwai Loop early Sunday morning.

Obligatory Group Shot.
Mike and Nicky, Sean and Carol, Corrie and Linda, Scott and Debbie, Lance and Jan, Helen, Joy, and Cliff made up the peleton today.

Lance and Jan pulled up follwed by Joy whom we met last week on the Peola ride. She brought freshly baked bread as she had promised. Linda brought apple pie and Debbie brought a no bake cheesecake. We were all motivated to make it back for soup.

We had some confusion about the route as Sean lead us back toward his house, then out Powers, then down MacIntosh and then down Tammany. We finished on Lindsay Creek.

Back at Nicky's we took a few turns on the trampoline before Sean Ellis demonstrated proper form. Chicken Noodle soup, black bean soup, and clam chowder steamed on the stove while we nibbled on grapes and Joy's delicous breads.

Lance at Play.

After desert Nicky got us together for a group photo and Sean lead off the story telling. I didn't get all the stories. Sean's account of being asked to deliver a letter because he and Carol were wearing their Postal Team jerseys only to discover the letter was addressed to the club brought appreciative laughter encouraging others. Of course John Arland's wintery night ride was retold in great detail, and Helen reported that she had traded hats with a European man who had his well, below the belt. And then, seized by a strange forwardness Jan Abernathy recounted her own tale of greating guests wearing only yellow rubber gloves.

No one could top that. We began to drift off home after another fine ride and meal at Nicky's.

I'll try to get some pictures up on this page tonight.
