The plan had been to do a century plus by riding to Wawawai-Pullman-Moscow-Kendrick. However, when we realized the Huckleberry ride was on Sunday, we backed off. Deary to Elk River and back is only 52 or so miles but it does have some steep rollers. But more importantly it generally draws a crowd. We didn't want to be dragging back instead of enjoying the group.

So we opted for Debbie's favorite ride, Kendrick. She had to teach so we were going to have a late start. If we rode back to the boat launch and up Tammany, we would be pushing the ride into mid-afternoon heat. I pushed for the shorter route out highway 12.

Cliff's understanding of the concept of resting a bit today was shaky to say the least. This will be his third century this week Sunday through Saturday. Three rides, three centuries. I figure he has about 310 or more miles for the week. To be fair, I start my week on Monday so that drops him back to 204. The Huckleberry Ride will bring him to 260 and me to 270. So there, Cliff.

I'm continually astounded at the number of riders who show up for these hot days. Sherry made a rare appearance saying she'd be golfing rather than riding tomorrow. Golfing, Sherry? Golfing?

And for the first time riding in the valley, Carol from Pullman. She's just two weeks out from the Coeur D'Alene Ironman. Yeah, that's the hole magilla with swim, 112 miles of biking followed by a leisurely jog of 26.2 miles.

Linda took off at 6 for Lapwai loop though she might have opted for the Lewiston/Clarkston loops. I don't konw 'cause she's somewhere with her credit card right now. She might have ridden with us. The air was cool with just a light head wind going out. The hills have mostly turned brown but still have a green tint. The return trip was mostly with a slight tail wind. We did feel the heat and I was plenty glad to roll into my garage at 72 miles.

The only incident was Debbie hitting a rock just before the Casino. She may have damaged her front tire as well as having a flat.

Cliff promises to stop sneaking in extra miles on me after this week. We'll see.
