More Photos This year only Tamara and I had expressed interest in driving up to Avery, Id. My son Tony, who’s joined our group on a few rides had never biked the trail so he joined us too.

Linda and Tony

This weekend was a scorcher in the Lewiston/Clarkston area but the mountain trail and many tunnels were cool and shady on this morning ride.

We had to find mountain or cross bikes for the ride as well as good lights. The tunnels, including the almost 1 mile Taft tunnel are dark and disorienting so we all stayed together.

Tamara and I had a terrible time even with good lights until Tony, rolled his eyes and reminded his mother to take off my sun glasses… duh. Tony now has another mom story to tell.

As we coasted down on the return trip who should come us the trail but some of our Moscow riders; Dave, Lorraine and Becky. They where late getting to the trail but where enjoying the ride even with a 11:30 start.

The ride to Avery is long for a weekend morning ride but the Hiawatha trail is so beautiful that it is always a glorious ride in the Idaho mountains.

Glad you had Tony with you to help you "see the light" in those dark glasses!
