I thought maybe Corrie and Dave Tibbals would be there as they've both mentioned that they really like this event but I called Corrie the night before and he and Linda had just finished their Washington Bike Ride and 400 miles was going to be enough for that week.

Doyle has a new bike! A Red Trek Pilot with more gears than he's ever had before. That will make it a lot easier the next time he rides up Wawawai canyon!

I was pleasently surprised by this ride. It was pretty and the weather was nice, cooler than it has been and though the wind was blowing, it didn't seem to bother us, nothing like that headwind at the Lilac Century.

The highlight of the first half of the course is cruising by the lakes surrounded by Ponderosa pine. On the way back you're surrounded by wheat fields ready for harvest.

I heard there were about 500 participants this year but a lot of them opted for the shorter 50 mile route. We went for the 80 mile option and finished at 2:00pm at a leisurely 15 mph pace. The pizza and ice cream at the finish was a fun treat. I would do this ride again. http://picasaweb.google.com/jvmccracken/8Lakes
