Who'd have expected an afternoon concert? All we wanted was ice cream. Some of us had ridden on to Wallace for ice cream. I was a little peeved since the music interrupted any conversation, but still it's surprises like these that make cycling fun. We had no nasty surprises other than my shifting. Carla did manage to fall off her bike and presented a nasty swollen wrist but by dinner it looked better.

I heard some complaints at Plummer on Sunday about the heat but really it had been cool and comfortable both days. Parking lots when you aren't moving are always uncomfortable.

Scott stopped to say hi as he passed me at a rest stop. "Lance had to stop and throw rocks in the river," he reported. It was the kind of weekend that makes baby boomers go kind of funny.

So here is the honor roll: See if I can get everybody. Corrie, Linda, Mike, Nicky, Scott, Debbie, Jim and Wanda, Lance and Jan, Sean, Shelly, John McInturff and Rylee, Helen, John and Carla. 17. I think that's all.
