    Fall too 012

Though the wind blew and the temps dropped 20 degrees from Tuesday to Wednesday, its been a great week to be on a bike. Eat your hearts out, working slobs.

I made a Lapwai Loop and grabbed a few pictures of and near the condemned Grouse Rd bridge we use to cross to old highway 12 and head for Arrow Bridge. Read about plans for that bridge and a bike path here: http://twinriverscyclists.org/Advocacy/Advocacy.htm

The best foliage, though was along the Green Belt Trail. On Wednesday I road south to the 10 mile bridge. Pretty nice yellows along that route as well.

You can see more pictures here

    For the ride of it.

    Jim's Sun Valley Pics

The sun was shining in Sun Valley where I spent four days at the annual Idaho Lifelong Learning Association conference.

I rented a mountain bike and enjoyed a couple of rides along the Big Wood River on a very nice bike path.

The keynote speakers for the conference were two women who quit their jobs as high school principles, sold their houses, gave away most of their stuff, and went on a year long, self-supported bike tour in Europe. They just published a book of their adventures titled Leaving Luna. Sorry, Amazon says it is out of stock.

Ride of Silence in Sarah Howard's Honor

(by Steve Largent, @ 6:50 PM)

It was a bit like attending the funeral of someone I didn’t know. I wanted to be there, but as I arrived, I felt very out of place. One of Sarah’s friends said she’d be so impressed by the crowd, but that gave me no solace. The crowd was large and the speaker was soft spoken. I heard him say we’d ride no more than two abreast and remind everyone that this was a ride of respect- to express respect for Sarah and her life, but also for the community though many in the crowd are disappointed in the community right now. I couldn’t hear anything else the speaker said. People of all sizes, shapes, and ages were there on bicycles also of all sizes, shapes, and ages to honor Sarah Howard, a 48 year old cyclists stuck from behind by a Hummer running a red light as Sarah sat in a bike lane waiting for the light to turn green.
