I've had some ideas by way of vocals for Orb. One of them involves the singer of a band I know (I know him, not the whole band). They're very local, not big, but I quite like the stuff I've heard.

I've let Andi hear what I have of Orb so far. The real version doesn't in fact sound like the Starship Enterprise's engine breaking down, as one of you have commented on the bogus sample I posted (woo!). He quite likes it, but we're as yet unsure of how he could go about singing for this.

We need lyrics that are apt. We need a voice that is apt for the music, and for the lyrics. He sings with an Emo Rock band. This, my friends, is the challenge. Wait - you wouldn't know, would you? You'll have to take my word for it - this is not a song for our typical Emo Rock singer. Light Emo Rock. Whatever.

We've bounced a few ideas off one another for the theme of the lyrics. He would sing these, while I would (read may, depending on how well it goes) go all Sigur Ros on your asses in the background, just like in the first part of Is. Oh, you haven't heard that part yet? You'll have to take my word for it - I can squeak. Falsetto, admittedly, but I'm not a vocalistic deity, nor a woman.

Andi will have a wee think about this, and in the meantime, I'll work on an ending. If he can't come up with anything that he could sing without making us both sound like mammary appendages, then we'll leave it for now. There's a possibility of that happening, but we'll see.

There's also a sound I've been working on that's annoying the hell out of me. I spent two or three good hours tweaking, listening, tweaking, listening, changing the bass line, listening, tweaking, listening, until I finally decided to leave it as it is for the moment. It's still annoying me. No, I can't take it out - I need something there. I want this track to sound full and voluptuous. Voluptuous - not like Barry White's music, but as in full of sound, you see. Rich.

P.S. Once again, I plead with you all - don't drink Barr's cola. This is important in order for you to retain the senses of taste, smell, and consciousness that you have all come to depend on so. If I weren't such a lonely soul, I would probably be sued for saying that. But alas - my audience is but three or so crippled chimps who can't even read. Makes no difference, does it?

P.S.S. I didn't mean it to sound like I was calling you all chimps. I need you people. Keep reading my blog, please.
