Alchemy

Overview

Exiles of all professions can make potions and other alchemical items given the training and ingredients. Firstly you need an Alchemy Bowl to get into the Alchemy Lab (southern part in the central area of town) and this is a quest with many parts. In order to avoid taking away the pleasure of completing this task on your own, I'll simply say that it's started by talking to Chymela outside of the Alchemy Lab who will point you in the right direction. Of course, you can always ask other exiles if you need some hints.

Once you have an Alchemy Bowl, you can learn how to make potions as well as exchange the bowl for an Alchemy Kit. The advantage of the Alchemy Kit is that you are able to make potions anywhere as long as you have the ingredients. With the Alchemy Bowl you need to return to the Alchemy Lab to make potions. Another difference is that you can store your Alchemy Bowl in the Alchemy Lab and easily retrieve it when necessary but you have to carry your Alchemy Kit with you or pay money to store it. Fortunately, you can exchange your Alchemy Kit for your Alchemy Bowl if you desire. If you're interested in earning an Alchemy Kit, simply talk to Lia Gish in the Alchemy Lab and she'll point you in the right direction.

A recent addition was the antivenom bandolier which can hold several antivenom potions while taking only one slot in the backpack. This is most useful when traveling in locations with a lot of poisonous critters such as Kizmia's Island, Land of Sarra, and others. It's sold by Bilth in the southwest farms from about 300c and up (price varies) and he is often out of stock.

Not every recipe can be learned by every profession. Healing and curing potions are taught to Healers, protective potions are taught to Fighters, and miscellaneous potions are taught to everyone. At this time, there are no potions that only Mystics can make and so it's not known what kind of potions will belong to them.

If you know how to make a potion or know someone who does, be sure to add them to the excellent Alchemists List at the Winds of Dawn scrolls. Keeping the list up-to-date will ensure that no one has to go without a potion.
