It is now possible for any any user to keep his email address private.

As has been noted a number of times, Conversant depends on email addresses for many operations. We needed a guaranteed-unique identifier for every user, and the easiest one to remember is your email address.

This new feature does not eliminate the need for email addresses. It only allows you to hide your email address from other users on the site. Anywhere that your email address would have been used in output from Conversant (in the browser, in email, or in a news message), it will be replaced with a fake email address that is specific to you.

To turn the privacy feature on, just go to the member-preferences area of the site you're visiting, such as http://www.free-conversant.com/free-conversant/support/members/settings/preferences .

Please let us know what you think... there have been a number of requests for this feature, we hope it satisfies a need.
