Voice over Internet Protocol seems to be hitting the news this week - the Guardian's Online supplement had a piece on it, and today I had a couple of newsletters with more items. First ZDNet had an item reporting the results of a survey, which suggests that "...VoIP lines will outnumber legacy PBX lines by 2007." It also has a Webcast on the topic. Then TechWeb came up with a story on the role of the Session Initiation Protocol in VoIP - and there are lots of links to follow up there. TechWeb also had a piece the potential regulation of VoIP through the Federal Communications Commission. Exactly how that will work when a VoIP provider can set up anywhere and route calls to and from anywhere is anyone's guess.
