I'm with Euan. Whilst the stupidity of human beings is always a source of amazement (ref. Albert Einstein paraphrase - human stupidity is infinite), it's always gratifying to encounter beneficial projects such as Wikipedia. And I mention it because it provides an illustration of how a semantic web might be produced. Perhaps similar users will commence a "search engine" or something that provides a semantic web. I've seen and heard of similar projects some while ago, but gather they didn't garner enough support to grow to usefulness.

Tom's right though, it's highly unlikely to come from those who set up websites due to the increased expense. I'm putting my faith in a third group of community minded individuals who do it for "fun". But I sure wouldn't stake my life on it happening.
