News just in (although the site has been running for a number of days) of a new portal for information professionals, called Information City. Formed by an Anglo-Swedish partnership, its intention is to provide a resource for information professionals through the creation of discussion groups and the provision of various other facilities. According to Stuart Urwin, one of the founders:

In today's World, we see so many families, including our own, being educated and living and working in several countries. Information is an international business and many members of the profession, especially the younger ones, want to work abroad. Many of them also work by themselves or in small groups. They need and want to make contact with professional colleagues in different countries, to learn from their experiences, and our global community and support network for information workers will give them that. We aim to provide our members with real benefits to help them develop their network of contacts, their skills and their careers, but we want them to have fun at the same time.
