There's an interesting account of the Open Content Alliance (which some see as Yahoo's answer to Google Print) on Peter Suber's site.

One of the main differences between OCA and Google Print is that the publishers favour the former against the latter. Silly of them really - any exposure of books, out of print or otherwise is likely to increase business for them, rather than reduce it. In particular, careful monitoring of the use of either site could indicate which books to reprint - always cheaper than producing new ones :-)
