Years ago I realized that newspapers contain ‘information’ that can be subjects for serious discussions and learning, so I introduced the topic ‘Nieuwsgaring’ (= gathering / collection of news) as a regular item at each class just after ‘Questions ?’. Very often nearly the whole class period was filled with discussions on items in news. It enables a relation between theory and practice that proved to be very high evaluated by students and staff that took over the item.
